With his roots in electronic music and jazz piano, Devin's specialties are jazz/fusion?Jazz fusion or just "fusion": music that combines elements of jazz with those of rock, funk, R&B, hip-hop, or electronic music. My soundtrack for racing game Drift.io is an example of this genre. and digital fusion?Digital fusion or "digifu": Music that combines the vernacular of hardware-limited styles such as 8-bit/chiptune, soundfont, and tracker music with modern production techniques and/or acoustic instruments. Examples from my projects include Brain Dive and The Shopkeeper's Secret. Popular soundtracks that can be described as digital fusion include Steven Universe, Celeste, and Omori.. But he's also an explorer, always in search of new things (or maybe he just can't make up his mind), and has also journeyed into genres such as dark fantasy?Dark fantasy: A subgenre of fantasy that incorporates a gloomy dark tone or a sense of horror and dread. While music for dark fantasy games can be bombastic and threatening, such as in Dark Souls, I gravitate toward the more beautiful and mournful side, with a love for soundtracks like Hollow Knight and Nier: Automata, which feature elegant piano and romantic strings. For examples from my own music, check out my demo reel and my socials./orchestral, cozy/lofi, and ambient/atmospheric as well, with more certainly on the horizon.

testimonials

“Devin worked with us on a jazz-fusion soundtrack for our racing game. Each track was brilliantly composed, delivering a distinct sound while fitting seamlessly together. Devin was open to feedback and consistently delivered outstanding results; we couldn't have asked for a better collaborator.”

— Ryan and Sam (developers of Drift.io)

“I had the pleasure of working with Devin for a week-long game jam. We only had to speak briefly about video game soundtracks we loved and he quickly created beautiful electronic tracks that matched the vibe of the game we built.”

— Jamie Dawson (game designer and sound designer on Brain Dive)

“I've always had a good time working with Devin; he is communicative, perceptive, and delivers work far enough ahead to make plenty of adjustments. He has both enhanced my frenetic gameplay loops' energy with a high-tempo chiptune and matched a downbeat narrative with an appropriately somber atmosphere.”

— Max Cheskin (lead game designer and programmer on The Ace Pilot's Bad Idea and Exit, Stage Left)
